I found myself consistently increasing my consumption of news articles over lockdown (UK still has restrictions and have had 3 x lockdowns). I've become more aware of political/international affairs which makes me feel good (smart) but at the same time disillusioned and borderline depressed. I don't watch broadcast news and read more left leaning publications (e.g. the guardian) which I like to think are less fear-mongering/reactive news. However, I completely agree with you, the constant bombardment of mostly negative news really wear you down as often you are fed only one side of the story. Not sure if it's your thing or if you've seen it already but I recommend the TV show 'The Newsroom' by Aaron Sorkin, I've enjoying learning about the US' news system and the adverse effects of reactionary news! Thanks for the great post!

Ooooh I've never heard of that show! It sounds right up my alley :)

I'm happy that you're staying away from broadcast news, that's one of the worst things you can do! What a time-suck cable news is, for so little reward.
