You are going to have a lot of stories to tell your grandkids and the people around you when you're old, man! I love it.

I was in Kong, Kwig, Kiana, and Kwethluk man! Kwig is where I met that lovely family

Sometimes I stay in the schools and sometimes I stay with familes. Never had a bad experience except when Bethel opened a liquor store. Thank goodness they closed it.

A very rich and old culture based on subsistence and tradition (and aviation). I never eat salmon unless Im in Alaska! Its paradise to spend a day after work picking and eating berries.

Omg those berries are so good! And yes, the culture is so beautiful. The berries are AMAZING, and the first time I ate dried king salmon belly my head almost exploded.

Ive spent years working in remote Alaska and its villages. Its a different way of life for sure. Folks in the lower 48 would not believe how life thrives in Kotezebue or Scammon Bay. Some kids fly everyday to and from school. Ive had 16 year old pilots flying me to the next village for groceries and Ive been gifted homemade sealskin gloves.

Most villages are dry. Bethel tried opening a liquor store a few years ago but it was a disaster. There is a frightening opiod epidemic in many villages but just like everywhere you go there are social problems.

Looking forward to late spring and getting back.
