Hi Aaron, Congratulations on 2,000. We have conversed before because I am a frequent responder to newsletter authors and Medium contributers, meaning you! I struggle being full-time employed as an educator and part-time creator on Medium. Why are there not enough minutes in the day? Reading habits, writing habits, oh my! But after 40 years in special education, I am looking to retire in the next two years. I am in Virginia, although I have lived all over the US, mostly the Southeast. I enjoy your common sense wisdom about the everyday things in life as well as your sense of humor.
Hahahaha oh man Susan, I struggle with the same thing. It just never ends! There are always books to read, stories to write, and it goes on and on and on!
I can't believe you've made it forty years, you're one of those real heroes that we need more of.
Hi Araron, I subscribed to the The Well-Lived Life after reading your "Three Life Lessons from a Dying Man", which I loved. I'm 55 and I live in Munich, although I was born and grew up in northern Germany. When I was young I read all the thriller and crime novels my dad had and everything by Raymond Chandler. So I'd recommend to read "The Long Goodbye", too, because I think it's his best book. And as Liza wrote, please keep on writing: The world needs guys like you to remind us that it's a wonderful place and people are basically good.
Thanks so much Olaf! That's a very kind thing to say :)
I love the Germans. After doing so much traveling, it seems like all the friends I made were German. I'd meed Germans in hostels in far-flung jungle areas that you can only get to by boat. You guys travel so much! It's amazing :)
I'll definitely check out The Long Goodbye! The Big Sleep made me laugh like crazy...
Good morning Aaron, I’m a recent subscriber and my brain likes your writings. I’m an old retired social worker who lived and worked for 30 years in the frozen Canadian Arctic (Yellowknife, NT). I’ve now moved to a more temperate climate and permit my tired and rather cynical self, to read only what sustains me. Your writings are part of that, so thank you. Please keep writing.
Wow... What does NT stand for? And what is the more temperate climate that you've moved to?
I'm so happy that you're being intentional about filtering information. For people like us who are in service jobs/fields, it can be SO exhausting to smash ourselves against bureaucracy over and over again. I'm glad you're fighting cynicism and I'm so flattered that I'm a part of that for you.

Thank you for saying something so kind.

NT stands for the Northwest Territories in Canada and temperate climate is anything south of there!
Got it. How did you make it through thirty years of those winters?
Haha...black humour and a good parka.
